Bobbie's Costume - The Railway Children
This is the costume I designed and made for the character Bobbie for a production of Mike Kenny's stage adaptation of E. Nesbit's children's classic “The Railway Children”. The play tells a beautiful and enduring tale of a family who live an extremely comfortable life in London in the early 1900s. When Father is wrongly jailed for spying, Mother and the children move to Yorkshire to a cottage beside the railway line. The children play in the open fields and have adventures around the railway and with the people who work or use the railway. My design for the oldest child Bobbie’s costume was inspired by the Edwardian railway infrastructure as well as the Yorkshire countryside.
